Maintenance Tech 1

This is a Full Time Hourly (non-exempt) position. Hours are Monday-Friday 7 am – 3 pm. The Pay Grade is 8 ($20.34 – $26.50) based on experience.

Summary of Responsibilities: Under general supervision the Maintenance Tech 1 is responsible for performing inspections, installations, and repairs for water treatment plants and distribution system.

Essential Duties: Inspect, install, maintain and repair water treatment plants, elevated tanks, water pump stations, and distribution equipment. Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment. Requisition parts and equipment within scope of authority. Recommend solutions to problems both short term and long term. Update and maintain computer maintenance management system. Keep accurate records and notes on repairs. Properly maintain and store tools and equipment. Perform general cleaning as needed and other duties as assigned. Maintain a safe work environment. Must be available for scheduled off-shift work, and emergency “call outs”.

Qualifications: Any combination of training and work experience, which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform the job duties successfully.
To perform this job successfully the person must have an electromechanical aptitude and some prior experience working with high voltage AC, PLC’s, MCC’s, control circuitry and wiring, and instrumentation. Completion of an apprenticeship program/military training, or other related training, and a minimum five years related work experience that demonstrates advance problem solving skills in electrical as well as mechanical skills is preferred. Knowledge of National Electrical Code preferred. Should have some exposure to instrumentation and calibration. Must have basic computer skills and some experience with Microsoft Office. Must be a self-starter, be able to work with minimum supervision, be a neat well organized individual, and have good communications skills. A high school diploma/GED required. A valid Ohio Driver’s License and acceptable driving record is required. Must be able to perform manual labor and be willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
